Ideally situated to tour the whole of Dorset and the many attractions the county has to offer including the seaside town of West Bay markets in Bridport and numerous National Trust properties. If all this is just too much then simply relax in your enclosed garden and admire the views. The New Inn Pub and Eype s Mouth Hotel serve bar and restaurant food both within walking distance. Bridport in Dorset is a market town situated near the coast where the River Brit flows into the sea. Originally a fishing port and rope-making town, the former harbour, once known as Bridport Harbour, is now known as West Bay and the area is now better known as a tourist location. Indeed West Bay has featured in a number of films and TV series including ‘The Navy Lark’ and ‘Harbour Lights’.
The railway once connected West Bay to the mainline, but as with many local branch-lines the Beeching cuts led to its closure, and the former line now provides an excellent route for cyclists, with the old station at West Bay becoming a fine cafe.
